A Laser Facial Treatment is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses laser technology to enhance the skin’s appearance.
At Everyderm, we utilise both the 1064nm long-pulsed NdYAG laser (Laser Genesis) and the V Beam Pulsed Dye Laser to target collagen production and blood vessels deep within the skin layers. This treatment effectively addresses various skin concerns, leaving you with new, refreshed skin that looks revitalised.
Technology and Methods
Our Laser Facial Treatment harnesses the power of advanced laser technologies.
The Laser Genesis laser emits thousands of short-pulsed light energy beams that penetrate the deeper layers of the skin without damaging the outer layer. The laser wavelength of 1064nm is safe for all skin types and fires 10 pulses per second into the dermis.
This stimulates collagen production, improving skin texture and reducing signs of ageing. The V Beam laser uses hundreds of pulses to target blood vessels, effectively treating redness whilst also heating the tissue to boost collagen.
Laser facials are suitable for all skin types, including:

We also offer laser skin resurfacing treatments using fractional lasers for more intensive skin rejuvenation. These lasers vaporise thin layers of skin, promoting the growth of new skin cells and improving the skin’s appearance. We choose CO2 over erbium lasers to optimise tissue contraction and tightening.

The Laser Facial Procedure
Your treatment begins with a consultation to assess your skin concerns.
On the day of the outpatient procedure, we cleanse the treatment area thoroughly and provide protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser beam. The laser device is gently passed over the skin.
With the NdYAG laser, thousands of continuous light beams deliver heat energy to the underlying skin layers, stimulating collagen and targeting blood vessels. The V Beam laser uses hundreds of pulses to address redness and aging skin.
You feel a warm sensation, but the procedure is generally comfortable, even pleasant. Our experienced practitioners ensure minimal heat damage to the outer layer of the skin.
The entire face can be treated in about 30 minutes. Unlike laser peeling, there is no need for the use of antiviral medication or antibiotic medication prior to treatment to prevent bacterial infections or cold sores.
The skin remains intact and unharmed.
Recovery and Aftercare
Post-treatment, you might experience slight pinkness and a feeling of warmth, which typically subsides within a few hours. There is minimal downtime, and you can return to your normal activities immediately.
To ensure optimal results, apply sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) to protect the treated skin from sun exposure. Use gentle skincare products to avoid irritation, and refrain from hot showers or intense exercise for 24 hours.

Risks and Side Effects
Laser treatments are generally safe when performed by experienced professionals.
Potential risks are rare but may include temporary redness or swelling, which subsides quickly. Complications such as burns, blisters, or eye injuries are extremely rare in experienced hands. Skin sensitivity or mild discomfort in the treated areas may occur.
Our practitioners take all necessary precautions to minimise risks, including adjusting settings for your specific skin type and providing protective eyewear.
It’s important to note that lasers pose minimal risk when used correctly. However, in very rare cases, lasers may trigger cold sores or other viral infections. If you have a significant history of herpes simplex, please inform us so we can take preventive measures.
We may also discuss the use of fractional laser treatments or radio frequency treatments as alternative options if necessary.

Questions
Where is the laser facial performed?
We perform laser facials at both our Carrickmines clinic and our Dundrum one. At Carrickmines, we use the NdYAG laser and the pulsed-dye laser in Dundrum. When facial redness is an issue, we may advise alternating between facials in Dundrum and Carrickmines to target slightly different depths in the skin. For more significant redness or rosacea, you should consider the Everyderm Platinum membership that includes vascular laser light treatments. These represent different protocols using the VBeam and BBL technologies.
Can I do a course on laser facials without being a member of Everyderm?
Absolutely! We recommend 4-6 treatments of the laser facial, and you can arrange a course of treatments outside of an Everyderm plan. For scarring, we may recommend 8 treatments using our NdYAG laser.
Is a laser facial painful?
No, there is no ablation or peeling and most people find the treatment comfortable. There is no need for numbing cream or painkillers with these gentle laser treatments.
