Photorejuvenation at Everyderm

What Is Photorejuvenation?

Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that uses light-based technologies to improve the appearance of your skin.

By targeting facial imperfections like sun damage, broken capillaries, and pigmented lesions, photorejuvenation stimulates collagen production and promotes cell regeneration. This results in healthier, more radiant skin with minimal downtime.

Technology and Methods

At Everyderm, we offer a range of photorejuvenation treatments tailored to your specific needs. These are performed by our experienced therapists and nurses who have trained under the preceptorship of our medical director, Dr Peter Prendergast.

VBeam Photorejuvenation

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) – BBL Therapy

Our BroadBand Light (BBL) is a powerful IPL device that delivers intense pulsed light to treat various skin conditions quickly and effectively.

The BBL and BBL Hero treatments target issues like:

  • Brown spots
  • Redness
  • Rosacea
  • Acne
  • Overall skin clarity.

It’s also excellent for treating areas beyond the face, such as the décolletage, neck, arms, and back, where unwanted pigmentation may occur.

Laser Genesis – NdYAG Laser

Our Laser Genesis treatment uses the NdYAG laser to improve skin tone, texture, and pore size.

Thousands of painless laser light pulses penetrate the deep layers of your skin and stimulate collagen production without affecting the top layer. This treatment effectively reduces redness and improves skin texture, making it suitable for all skin types, including type 5 and 6 (black) skin.

Vascular Laser Treatment – V Beam Pulsed Dye Laser

At our Dundrum clinic, we offer the V Beam Pulsed Dye Laser, which provides powerful photorejuvenation, particularly effective for vascular conditions and redness

This treatment targets broken veins, facial redness, rosacea, and even birthmarks like port-wine stains. V Beam can also zap brown spots by employing the pigmented lesion tip.

Intelligent LED Therapy

Our intelligent LED therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to promote healing and rejuvenation. This treatment helps reduce inflammation, improve skin tone, and enhance overall skin health.

This is a brilliant add-on to most other injectable and skin treatments at Everyderm.

Benefits for the Skin

By stimulating collagen production and promoting cell regeneration, photorejuvenation improves skin texture and tone. It reduces signs of sun damage, minimises redness and pigmentation, and enhances overall skin clarity.

The treatments are non-invasive, have a low risk of side effects, and require minimal downtime, allowing you to return to your normal activities quickly.

Risks and Side Effects

Photorejuvenation treatments are generally safe and well-tolerated

You might experience slight redness or warmth immediately after treatment, which typically subsides quickly. Some clients feel a slight sting during the procedure, but it’s usually minimal.

We ensure that treatments are customised to your skin type to minimise any risks.

The Procedure

Your journey begins with a consultation where we assess your skin concerns and determine the most suitable photorejuvenation treatment.

During the procedure, we cleanse your skin and may apply a cooling gel or anaesthetic cream for added comfort. If you’re undergoing an IPL treatment, we’ll use the BBL handpiece to deliver pulses of intense light to the target areas. For Laser Genesis or vascular laser treatments, we’ll use specialised laser devices to address specific concerns.

For certain treatments, we may perform a test patch and wait some time before the full treatment is administered.

Throughout the treatment, you’ll wear dark glasses or eye goggles to protect your eyes from the laser light. The procedure is generally quick, and multiple treatments are often recommended to achieve the best results.

Preparation

Before your treatment, we advise you to avoid sun exposure and tanning products to reduce the risk of side effects. Refrain from using retinoids or strong exfoliants a few days prior.

Let us know about any skin conditions or medications or if you have a history of skin cancer so we can tailor the treatment accordingly.

Recovery Time and After-Care

One of the great benefits of photorejuvenation is the minimal downtime. You can usually return to your normal activities immediately

We recommend applying sunscreen diligently to protect your skin and enhance the results. Follow any specific aftercare instructions we provide to ensure optimal healing.

Everyderm_Photorejuvenation_Recommended Frequency

Recommended Frequency

For gradual improvement and optimal results, several treatments may be recommended, typically spaced two to four weeks apart.

We may suggest combining photorejuvenation with other treatments, like chemical peels, to enhance the effects and address multiple skin concerns simultaneously.

Frequently Asked
Questions

What's the difference between IPL and BBL photorejuvenation?

IPL stands for intense pulsed light whereas BBL stands for broadband light. Although they both utilise a band of light that is typically filtered to target specific things, such as freckles, blood vessels, or acne, BBL is widely regarded as one of the wworld’smost sophisticated pulsed light technologies. In other words, all IPLs are not created equally. BBL can be used on darker skin types safely, is exceedingly fast, and produces results comparable to the most powerful lasers. Developed by the laser company Sciton, headquartered in California, BBL has also been shown clinically to reverse the signs of skin aging.

How many photorejuvenation treatments do I need?

Usually 4 treatments give excellent results but it depends on what is being treated.  s always, maintenance treatments keep pigment and redness at bay so should be planned. If you’re an Everyderm member, you won’t need to worry about maintenance treatments because they will be included and planned.

Can photorejuvenation cause skin cancer?

No. We ddon’tuse ionising radiation in aesthetic lasers and lights. In fact, studies have shown broadband light improves skin health. We often combine LED light therapy with photorejuvenation, on the same visit, to further enhance the regenerative and skin health benefits of these treatments.

We also offer light treatments for hair removal, including BBL for face and body, and the 1064nm NdYAG laser for hair removal in darker skin types, including type 6 skin.

Our team of highly trained aesthetic professionals will guide you through every stage of the process on your first visit to Everyderm
