Lip Fillers

Ready to enhance your smile? Contact Everyderm in Dublin today to schedule your consultation. Our lip filler treatments range from €350–€450, offering you long-lasting results with the highest level of care.

We have 20 years of experience performing lip filler treatments.

Anatomy of the Area

The lips are a complex and dynamic area, requiring careful assessment for any enhancement.

They consist of the upper lip and lower lip, each with unique shapes and volumes. Factors such as thin lips, the shape of the mouth, the presence of wrinkles, and how the lips move during smiling or other expressions are crucial considerations.

A downturned mouth or asymmetry can also impact the desired look.

Preparation for the Procedure

Before your lip filler treatment, we recommend a consultation to discuss your goals, assess your lip anatomy, and provide pre-treatment advice.

It’s a good idea to refrain from consuming alcohol or taking blood-thinning medications to minimise bruising. Please inform us if you are prone to cold sores so we can provide preventive measures.

At Everyderm, we believe that a topical anaesthetic is not enough and prefer nerve blocks to ensure the procedure is pain-free, providing complete comfort during your lip enhancement.

Used Methods and Technology

We use only safe, non-permanent hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers for lip augmentation.

HA fillers are a naturally occurring substance in the body, making them ideal for adding volume and hydration to the lips. Our medical professionals employ various injection techniques, including linear threading and tenting, to achieve plumper lips with precise definition.

Our approach may include:

Eeryderm_Defining lip borders_Lip_Fillers

Defining lip borders: Enhancing the outline for a more defined shape and stop lipstick bleeding into fine lines in older patients.

Eeryderm_Enhancing lip body_lip_fillers

Enhancing lip body: Adding volume to the upper lip, lower lip, or both. The ideal upper to lower lip proportions are between 1 and 1.6 to 2.0; we respect aesthetically ideal proportions.

Eeryderm_lip_flip_Lip_fillers

Lip flip: A non-surgical treatment using muscle-relaxing injections (anti-wrinkle injections) into the orbicularis oris muscle to evert the lips subtly. We’ll discuss whether this is appropriate for you or not.

Eeryderm_Lip_Fillers_turning_up_Corner

Turning up corners of the mouth: Addressing a downturned mouth for a more youthful appearance. This is achieved using muscle relaxing injections into the depressor of the mouth corners.

What to Expect?

The whole procedure takes approximately 20–30 minutes

After applying local anaesthetic for your comfort, our doctor will carefully inject the HA filler into specific areas to achieve the desired volume and shape. The treatment is tailored to your unique anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Anticipated Effect

Immediately after the procedure, you will notice fuller lips with enhanced definition.

Mild swelling is normal and typically subsides within 1–3 days, revealing the final results. The lips usually look their best after about three days, but the day after, you can apply lipstick and do your usual activities.

How Long Does It Last?

Lip fillers are not permanent. The longevity of the results depends on many factors, including the type of filler used, your metabolism, and lifestyle.

Generally, the effects last between 6–12 months. Regular follow-up treatments can help maintain the desired look.

Aftercare

Post-treatment care is essential for optimal results:

Avoid touching: Do not touch or massage the treated area for at least 24 hours.

Strenuous exercise: Refrain from intense physical activities for 24 hours to minimise swelling and bruising.

Hydration: Drink plenty of water to aid in healing.

Avoid extreme temperatures: Stay away from hot environments like saunas or steam rooms for the first few days.

Cold sores: Monitor for any signs if you’re prone; contact us if necessary.

Most people can resume normal activities immediately, experiencing minimal discomfort.

Risks of Complications

Lip filler treatments are generally safe when performed by experienced doctors.

Potential side effects may include swelling and bruising. This is usually mild and temporary, usually resolving within a few days.

Some redness at the injection sites is normal and resolves quickly. Tenderness may also be present after the nerve block injections wear off. Infections are extremely rare when performed at a proper medical clinic. Allergic reactions are possible but also rare with the use of hyaluronic acid fillers.

At Everyderm, safety is our priority. Our doctor, with 20 years experience, ensures the risk factors are minimised through proper assessment, precise injection techniques and appropriate aftercare.

Recommended Frequency

To maintain the fullness and shape of your lips, we recommend follow-up treatments every 6–12 months, depending on how your body metabolises the filler and your desired look.

Why Everyderm?

PETER_EVERYDERM

At Everyderm, we offer:

  • Expertise: Treatments performed by a doctor with two decades of experience in lip enhancement.
  • Natural results: We avoid over-inflating lips, focusing on achieving a natural appearance that enhances your beauty and the rest of your face.
  • Personalised approach: Careful assessment of your lips’ anatomy, movement, and facial harmony.
  • Comfort: Use of regional nerve blocks to ensure a pain-free experience.
  • Advanced techniques: Employing methods like linear threading and tenting for precise results.
  • Safety: Utilising only safe, non-permanent HA fillers and adhering to strict medical protocols.

We understand that every patient is unique. For extremely thin lips, we may recommend a staged approach to build up volume over time. In cases where the upper lip is lengthened, a surgical lip lift might be a more suitable option to achieve natural-looking results. We also offer remote assessments.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Do Lip Fillers Hurt?

The lips and mouth area are sensitive. That’s why we use local anaesthetic blocks to ensure the procedure is pain-free. Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the treatment.

How Long Does Swelling Last After Lip Fillers?

Mild swelling is normal and typically subsides within 1–3 days. The final results are usually visible after about three days.

Can Lip Fillers Be Reversed?

Yes, HA fillers can be dissolved if desired, but this is rarely necessary due to our careful approach and focus on natural results.

What If I Have Cold Sores?

If you’re prone to cold sores, inform us during your consultation. We can take preventive measures to minimise the risk of an outbreak. If you already have an active cold sore, your treatment will need to be postponed until it has completely healed.

Can I use my own fat as a lip filler?

Lip augmentation with fat is possible, but we prefer hyaluronic acid fillers due to their predictability. We use fat grafting for the face, but not in the lips or close to the areas where we require small volumes and precision.
